Three-strand Cord

As the glowing bride stood beside her almost husband, she took a momentary trip back to her childhood. It wasn’t an intentional lack of focus. It was something the preacher said about the three-strand cord—she, her mate and Messiah. A cord which, for the sake of strength and beauty, must not be broken.

She found herself back in her childhood home with her mom and her much admired older sisters. She was watching her mom braid her sisters’ hair. They sometimes made faint protests, but always looked so put together and beautiful when the task was done. Her fine baby hair couldn’t hold a braid, but as she watched the process she was absentmindedly twisting her hair hoping that somehow it would hold. But it always fell back into a gentle curl. Oh, how pleased she would be to finally have a beautiful braid of her own.

When she had decided to wear her hair in a braid festooned with a garland of flowers the day of her wedding, she hadn’t anticipated the message. But it all fit so perfectly. The three-strand cord covering her head symbolized the covering that both the groom by her side and Messiah overseeing the ceremony willingly promised. They both loved her dearly, and as a tight unit, the earth-bound couple could face the future with hope.

The bride’s confidence and joy were a breathtaking witness to the witnesses present, both here and THERE.
