Get a Grip

One of my very favorite stories is told by our friend Dann. When he was a young, tow-headed boy he loved to walk out across the fields with his dad to check the cattle. The grass was tall and he was small, so he’d hold on to the hammer-loop on his dad’s coveralls for dear life. Sometimes the big old farm dog would come bounding out of nowhere and start his heart to racing.

That grip on his dad felt like the only thing keeping him safe from getting lost or being unpleasantly startled. But he loved being there, in spite of his fears. His dad was his hero.

Those memories are dearly held now as he can apply them to his relationship with his heavenly Father as well.
