Over and Out

Pondering ‘the law’ at 3am, I was thinking: we’re neither under the law nor above the law. Hadn’t thought in quite those terms before and it appealed to my joy of encapsulating.
The pronouncements of the Almighty, King of the Universe, are always wise. There are laws that apply to individuals with certain roles to play in their lifetime. Laws for a limited period of time—such as those from golden calf incident till Shiloh come. And there are laws that are everlasting--from Creation till heaven and earth pass away.
We are not under the condemnation of the law, thanks to Messiah. But He wasn’t obedient so that we wouldn’t have to be. He set the example and we are to walk in His footsteps. That’s what prepares us to walk alongside Him into eternity.
It’s His Work in us, rather than our own works that save us. But we need to be willing, eager participants in the process—like an A student who pays more attention to the teacher than to the other kids.
So, to end as we began, not being ‘above the law’ means we don’t make our own rules as we go along. Yahweh’s Wisdom will unfailingly be higher than our own.
